OUR STORY

The Winesap apple originated as a chance seedling in New Jersey around 1817. Winesap's wine like flavor, acidity, crisp firm flesh and wide climatic adaptation has made it a very popular apple. Winesap is excellent for all uses and valued for cider blends. Resistant to cedar apple rust and fireblight. Grows in USDA zones 5-9. It blooms late and is sterile. Needs a self fertile apple to cross pollinate. (White Pearmain, Newtown Pippin, Grimes Golden). Trees are bench grafted 1/4-3/16 inch diameter and 1 1/2 to 2 feet tall when shipped.
