OUR STORY

The Tolman Sweet is a heirloom apple variety known for its high sugar content, very low acidity, and exceptional hardiness. It originated in the northeastern United States—frequently traced back to Dorchester, Massachusetts, before 1700 or the early 1800s. It has a mellow sweetness with virtually no tartness or sharp acid. Prized for baking (retaining its shape well when cored and stuffed), boiling, pickling, making sweet apple sauces, and apple butter. Added to cider blends to naturally boost sugar and alcohol content. Grows in USDA zones 4-9. Needs another variety for pollination. Consider Grimes Golden or White Pearmain for pollinator trees. Trees are bench grafted 1/4-3/16 inch diameter and 1 1/2 to 2 feet tall when shipped.
