Available on both Bud 9 and MM111 Rootstock.
The Hardy Cumberland apple, developed in 1961 as a cross between Lyons and Detroit Red, offers a sweet, mild flavor with crisp cream-colored flesh. An all-purpose apple for fresh eating (dessert), baking, and cooking because the flesh holds its shape well. Its high (sugar) levels and juiciness make it highly favored for cider production in USDA zones 4 through 8, this mid-season bloomer resists apple scab and pairs with varieties like Gala or Fuji for pollination. Trees are bench grafted 1/4-3/16 inch diameter and 1 1/2 to 2 feet tall when shipped.
