Available on both Bud 9 and MM111 Rootstock.
The Golden Delicious apple originated as a chance seedling around the turn of the 20th century on the Mullins family farm in Clay County, West Virginia. It is widely believed to be a natural hybrid of the Grimes Golden and Golden Reinette. Large, bright golden-yellow apples with a sweet, mellow flavor and crisp texture. Grows in USDA Hardiness Zones 4 through 9. It is partially self-fertile or self-pollinating, meaning it can produce fruit on its own, but planting another compatible apple variety (like Gala, Honeycrisp or Fuji) nearby significantly increases crop yields. The Golden Delicious apple tree blooms in mid-to-late spring. Trees are bench grafted 1/4-3/16 inch diameter and 1 1/2 to 2 feet tall when shipped.
