The Duchess of Oldenburg is a historic, extremely cold-hardy heirloom apple variety originating from Russia in the 18th century. The apple is medium to large; color pale yellow covered with splashes and stripes of pinkish red. Duchess of Oldenburg flesh is firm, crisp, aromatic, and juicy. Excellent kitchen apple. Great pie apples. Grows in usda zones 3-9. Blooms midseason and requires another variety blooming at same time for pollination. Trees are bench grafted 1/4-3/16 inch diameter and 1 1/2 to 2 feet tall when shipped.
