The Cherry Pearmain is an heirloom English apple variety originating from Herefordshire, UK, dating back to the mid-1800s or earlier. Yellowish flesh with red stains just beneath the skin. It is tender, juicy, sweet, and slightly tart with and aromatic. Used as both as a dessert/eating apple and for cider making (producing a sweet, reddish must that typically requires blending with bitter-sweet varieties) Thrives in Zones 4 through 8. Mid-season bloomer. It cannot set a reliable crop on its own and requires cross-pollination from a compatible partner. Compatible Partners: Good pollen matches include other mid-season heirlooms or popular varieties such as Cox's Orange Pippin, Gala, Fuji, or universal white-flowering Crabapples, which feature long bloom windows that overlap.
