Large Heirloom apple grown from a chance seedling before 1800 in Massachusetts. Yellowish flesh, moderately firm, mild to sweet subacid, aromatic very good quality. Henry David Thoreau’s favorite apple. Grows in USDA zones 5-9. Bloom mid to late season. Requires another variety blooming at same time for pollination.
