Jonagold apples are a cross of Golden Delicious x Jonathan. Large apple with yellow background with a pinkish-red blush. Jonagold has won many taste tests for its well balanced flavor. Its high in sugar and acid which compliment one another. Jonagolds are aromatic, crisp, crunchy, and very juicy. Jonagold is good for fresh eating, cooking, baking, sauces. Blooms midseason and is sterile and requires self fertile apple variety blooming at the same time to pollinate. Consider White Pearmain, Grimes Golden, Liberty or Newtown Pippin as self fertile pollinators. Grows in USDA zones 5-10. Trees are bench grafted 1/4-3/16 inch diameter and 1 1/2 to 2 feet tall when shipped.
