The Black Twig apple tree originates in Tennessee around 1830 as a seedling. The Black Twig apple is said to have been Andrew Jackson's favorite apple. The Black Twig apple is a tart apple; good for fresh eating and cider. Black Twig's juice has enough tannins to add a kick to sweet or hard cider. The Black Twig apples are great keepers. Grows in USDA zones 5-10, blooms late and requires another variety blooming at the same time for pollination.
