One of the most famous heirloom apples
Available on both Bud 9 and MM111 Rootstock.
The origins of one of the most famous of all heirloom dessert apples is Westfield, Massachusetts in the mid 18th century. Apple is dull rusty red, yellow, dotted and sometimes russeted. Very flavored, rich, a bit sweet, a bit sour, firm, crisp and juicy. It is all an apple should be! The Apples of New York calls it “rich, sometimes astringent, peculiarly aromatic, sprightly, very good to best.” Grows in USDA zone 5-9. Blooms late and requires another variety blooming at same time to pollinate. Grimes Golden good pollinater for this variety.
