Frostbite Apple is a cold-hardy dessert apple developed by the University of Minnesota. Bred to withstand harsh winters while maintaining high fruit quality. Frostbite produces small to medium-sized apples with dark red skin and sweet, bold flavor. It has been compared to a tropical punch flavor. The flesh is firm and crisp. Frostbite is among the most cold-hardy apples available and is generally rated to survive at least −40°F, qualifying for Zone 3. Blooms midseason. Frostbite needs another variety blooming at the same to pollinate. Trees are bench grafted 1/4-3/16 inch diameter and 1 1/2 to 2 feet tall when shipped.
