The Eve's Delight apple is a mutation of the Spokane Beauty apple discovered in Hood River, Oregon, in the 1970s by Dan Hanners. Produces very large, red apples with a shape similar to a Red Delicious apple. Because of its enormous size (individual apples can easily weigh over a pound, sometimes hitting 20 ounces or more), it is heavily favored for kitchen projects. It takes very few apples to fill a whole pie, cobbler, or batch of applesauce. It is a mild, pleasant apple. It has a balanced flavor profile that lends itself well to sweet bakes. It is a mid-to-late season bloomer. The blossoms have excellent cold tolerance, boasting a spring frost resistance comparable to the Yellow Newtown variety (which can withstand temperatures 2 to 3 degrees colder than most standard Red Delicious strains). Grows in USDA zones 5-8.Eve's Delight is partially self-fertile, meaning it can technically set fruit on its own, but the yield and fruit quality are vastly improved via cross-pollination. It cross-pollinates successfully with Newtown Pippin, Golden Delicious, Grimes Golden. Trees are bench grafted 1/4-3/16 inch diameter and 1 1/2 to 2 feet tall when shipped.

(zones 4-8) Firm, crisp, white flesh with a sweet-tart balance with a subtle pear flavor with hints of honey and vanilla.
