Burgundy apple is a 1973 NY Agricultural Experiment Station creation that crosses Macoun and the Russian apple, Antonovka. The skin is very dark red. Flesh is creamy, firm, crisp, tart, juicy, good quality for dessert use. It is self- fertile and pollinates other varieties. Trees are bench grafted 1/4-3/16 inch diameter and 1 1/2 to 2 feet tall when shipped.
