The bellows smoker for beekeeping, invented by Quaker, Moses Quinby. He was an abolitionist, generous and a very honest man. The bellows smoker allows beekeepers to manage their hives while keeping the honeybees calm through the use of smoke. One theory is that the bees believe there is a forest fire and they proceed to gorge on honey in order to flee and start a new home. In essence, they are not concerned with the beekeeper poking around in their home.
